| Das Haus der Völker wurde 1995 gegründet und ist eine Initiative des Tiroler Afrikakenners und Fotografen Gert Chesi. In dreißig Jahren hat er mehr als tausend Exponate gesammelt, die durch Leihgaben ergänzt, die Basis eines außerordentlichen Ausstellungsbetriebes bilden. Es entstand ein Ort der Begegnung, der die Kulturen dieser Welt vergleichend verständlich macht und durch die Präsentation großer Themen den Versuch unternimmt, den unermesslichen Reichtum zu zeigen, den das Schaffen der Menschheit hervorbringt. Das Haus der Völker versteht sich als Museum, das über den Ausstellungsbetrieb hinaus kulturell tätig ist, um ein ganzheitliches Kulturverständnis zu bewirken und eine Brücke zwischen gestern und heute, aber auch zwischen den Kulturen der Völker dieser Welt zu schlagen. |
